In August 2025, the table of top 10 SUVs saw Hyundai Creta finishing on top ahead of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx, Tata Punch and others The midsize and compact SUV segments once again demonstrated their dominance in August 2025 – though the picture was not entirely rosy for all manufacturers. Leading the pack was the Hyundai Creta, which recorded 15,924 units – slightly down by five per cent from 16,762 units a year ago. Despite the dip, it continues to be the benchmark in the midsize SUV space – proving its long-standing appeal among Indian buyers.

Chasing closely was the Tata Nexon, clocking 14,004 units compared to 12,280 units in August 2024 – registering a healthy rise of fourteen per cent. The Nexon’s strong showing highlights its consistent popularity bolstered by its wide variant lineup comprising petrol, diesel, CNG and EV options.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza, however, saw a sharp fall of twenty nine per cent, dropping from 19,190 units last year to 13,620 units this August. While still among the top sellers, the decline indicates growing competition from newer rivals, particularly in the sub-four-metre SUV bracket. Interestingly, its sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, held steady at 12,422 units, almost identical to its 12,387 units in August 2024. The Fronx continues to be a steady contributor for Maruti in the compact crossover space.
